This Post usually will not be this long, but it is the opening weekend so I am commenting on anything that could matter in March.

New AP Poll November 14th

  • #3 Nova has a big test tonight vs Purdue in the Gavitt Games.
  • #6 Indiana makes a big move after beating Kansas in OT.
  • #7 Kansas took a tough loss, but have a chance to redeem themselves and take out #1 Duke Tuesday.
  • #10 Arizona beats MSU on game winning lay up, Kobi Simmons looks really good and could lead this team along with a lot of talented freshman and veteran Parker Jackson Cartwright. I have high hopes for this team.
  • #11 Xavier falls 4 spots after almost getting upset by a very good Leigh team, look out for them in March.
  • #13 MSU has a tough game at home vs #2 Kentucky Tuesday, if they lose they will be 0-2.
  • #21 URI dominates Dartmouth and looks very good as people expected.
  • #23 Texas survived and upset run from Incarnate Word.
  • #24 Cincy and #25 Cal are in for Uconn who got upset by Wagner and Maryland who almost got upset by American.

Other Takeaways

  • South Carolina survived Ltech in a very good game.
  • Marquette vs Vandy was very close at half, but Marquette ended winning by 30. Vandy could be in jeopardy when it comes to making the NCAA Tournament if they play like they did in the 2nd half of that game.
  • Chattanooga dominates Tennessee, but gets dismantled by North Carolina and loses by 40. However, I still believe in Chattanooga to be one of the top non power teams.
  • Albany blows out and upsets Penn State.
  • Clemson beats a very hyped up Georgia team by 10. Many people had Georgia in there tournament field, but I do not.
  • NC State was also very hyped up and they only beat Georgia Southern by 2.
  • Eastern Michigan took Pitt to OT and lost, then turned around and lost to SMU by 27. This showed us that either Pitt is terrible or SMU is really good. I believe SMU is really good.
  • Temple beats La Salle in OT.
  • Ole Miss beats UT Martin by just 3.
  • Ball State out of the MAC destroys an A-10 St Louis team. The MAC seems pretty strong so far.
  • Ohio State struggles with Navy, but wins by 10.
  • Arkansas barely beats a very good IPFW team who I expect to see in the Tournament in march.
  • Miss State survives a scare from Norfolk State.
  • Tulsa who was a Tournament team last year lost to Jacksonville State by 9.
  • Murray State beats a team that was projected to this years Wichita State as in Illinois State by 3.
  • Utah State destroys UC Irvine who is usually very good.
  • Harvard could not find a way to beat Stanford losing by 10.
  • USC almost gets upset by Montana and Omaha.
  • St Bonaventure beats St Francis by 10.
  • St Joes holds off Toledo by 1 point.
  • Rice destroys James Madison.
  • Oregon State survives UTSA
  • Yale continues to upset teams and takes out a very promising Washington team.
  • Wichita State wins by 30+ in both of their games one being against Long Beach State who is a very good team.
