Top 25 Notes

  • Now #2 Oklahoma got their revenge and dominated the now #8 Ohio State Buckeyes in the Horseshoe. Oklahoma looks a serious playoff contender again. Ohio State dropped 6 spots after the loss, and are in trouble of slipping out of playoff contention this year. They now know that they have 10 games to win and loss means no playoff this year.
  • #3 Clemson and #4 USC both got ranked wins beating #15 Auburn who only dropped two spots in the poll and #19 Stanford who did not produce how they were projected to against USC.
  • #13 Georgia pulled off a crazy win in South Bend beating Notre Dame 20-19 and knocking the Irish out of the AP poll.
  • #14 Louisville’s boy Lamar Jackson is doing Lamar Jackson things again as he finesses the North Carolina to boost his stats.
  • Virginia Tech is climbing the poll and are up to #16 after their huge week 1 win over West Virginia.
  • #21 Washington State had a magical comeback to beat Boise State, but it took 3 overtimes.
  • Our new team in the poll this week is #25 UCLA mainly because QB Josh Rosen is on another level right now.

Other Headlines

  • Duke had a fantastic showing taking out Northwestern 41-17. They could be a sleeper team to cause some trouble in the ACC. Duke QB Daniel Jones had 4 total touchdowns in the game 2 rushing and 2 throwing.
  • Iowa survives against Iowa State in overtime 44-41 to win the CyHawk trophy. However, Iowa State looks better than they have in past years.
  • Syracuse is upset by Middle Tennessee after they were predicted to have a solid season. The Cuse will have to work hard to make a bowl game this year.
  • Indiana wins a fairly easy game in Virginia 34-17 coming off their loss to Ohio State.
  • Michigan State silences the doubters and beats a very good Western Michigan team by 14. That Western team almost upset USC week 1.
  • Oregon fired out of the gates scoring 42 in the first half and not scoring in the 2nd Nebraska scored 21 unanswered in the 2nd half, but still fell short to the Ducks by a touchdown 42-35. Oregon looks scary in the PAC 12 again.
  • Mississippi State, a sleeper in the SEC destroyed a very good Louisiana Tech team 57-21.
  • Utah beat BYU by 6, but this win did not show us the quality of this Utah team quite yet.
  • Houston gets a great win in Arizona 19-16. The Wildcats of Arizona want to get back to a bowl game and be a team to reckon with, but this does not look like the year. On the other end, Houston looks to win the AAC this year.
  • Arizona State takes a tough loss to San Diego State and like Arizona this year does not look promising once again.
  • Kansas football is in for another long year as they fell to Central Michigan today 45-27.
  • And for our top headline of the week, Baylor gets upset for the 2nd week in a row, this time by UTSA. Baylor Football has been in a hole ever since the Art Briles situation took place. It is going to be a long year for the Bears.
