Week 1 Quick Takes

  • The Chiefs went into Foxborough and completely dominated the defending champ New England Patriots. Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill both looked phenomenal in the win.
  • The Falcons survived disaster as they stopped the Bears on the last play of the game to win 23-17.
  • The Browns defense had a good showing in a loss to the Steelers 21-18. They held Leveon Bell to under 50 total yards which is rare.
  • The Raiders took care of business in Tennessee beating the Titans 26-16. Derek Carr looks to have a revenge year after his season came to a close last year due to injury.
  • The Ravens shut out the Bengals who honestly looked the worst team in the NFL. Danny Woodhead went down with an injury and did not return for the Ravens, which could be trouble for Baltimore’s offense.
  • The Eagles defense showed up and shut down the Redskins for a 30-17 win. Carson Wentz looked like a seasoned quarterback controlling the game from start to finish.
  • The Jaguars also had a stellar performance on defense. They beat the Texans 29-7, but Texans fans have something to look forward to since Deshaun Watson took over for the struggling Tom Savage.
  • The Bills did their job beating the weak Jets 21-12 in a boring game.
  • The Lions played very sloppy in the beginning of the game vs the Cardinals, but turned it around in the 2nd half to get a very meaningful victory 35-23.
  • The Rams had the best defense of the day as they beat the Colts 46-9. The Colts were without Andrew Luck, but to me it would not have mattered who played quarterback for them, the Rams D was on fire.
  • The Packers started the season off with a defensive win over the Seahawks 17-9. Aaron Rodgers did not look as good as we all thought he would.
  • The Panthers had no problem beating the 49ers 23-3. Christian McCaffrey was the workhorse for the Panthers, he got a ton of touches.
  • The Vikings and their defense took care of the Saints easily as Stefon Diggs shines and Sam Bradford looks fantastic. Rookie RB Dalvin Cook shows us that he is prepared to perform as a bell-cow runner.
  • The Chargers surged late in the game down 24-7 with two key turnovers, but the field goal to tie the game was blocked by the Broncos who walked away with a solid victory. Trevor Siemian looked like a veteran QB, and out-performed expectations.
