Top 25 Notes

#1 Bama, #2 Penn State, #3 Georgia, and #4 TCU are now on an island in the college football world. #7 Clemson is by far not out of playoff contention, but they sure did make it harder for themselves being upset by Syracuse with the schedule they have left.

#8 Miami enters the top ten after squeezing out a tough victory over Georgia Tech. Miami is in a very good spot in the ACC.

#11 USC gotta a very lucky comeback win over Utah to remain some what in contention for the playoff. The way it is looking right now, the PAC 12 may not get a team into the College Football Playoff as Washington and Washington State both suffered bad upset losses this week, and Stanford has two losses already.

The New Years Six Race loosened up a bit as San Diego State and Navy both lost. #16 USF and #20 UCF continue to look fantastic, and both look to remain undefeated going into their showdown in the last week of the regular season. Memphis however, re enters the AP Poll at #25.

#17 NC State is sitting in a very good spot with one loss, they get their chance to take out #7 Clemson next week, end Clemson’s playoff hopes, and get more confident in their own playoff hopes.

#23 West Virginia also re enters the AP Poll after coming back to beat Texas Tech this week. #24 LSU returns as well after upsetting now #21 Auburn.
