Top 25 Notes
#2 Penn State had a chip on their shoulder Saturday Night after they were dominated last year by Michigan. They flipped the script on the Wolverines beating them 42-13, with another unbelievable showing by RB Saquon Barkley.
#8 Miami barely survives another week in the top 10, beating Syracuse in a tight game.
#9 Notre Dame dominates now #21 USC, to find themselves in the Top 10 with an eye on the College Football Playoff. The Irish still have #16 NC State next week, #8 Miami in what could be a playoff elimination game, and then #22 Stanford to end the year.
#10 Oklahoma hangs around in the Top 10 this week after barely beating Kansas State. Also, #11 Oklahoma State needed overtime to avoid and upset from Texas.
The New Years six race is getting closer and closer to coming down to #17 USF vs #18 UCF on the final week of the season. Both teams won with dominance, and do not look like they are going to slip up until they meet later in the year.
And our only new team to the rankings this week, may be the most improved team we have seen in college football in the last decade. Iowa State who remained at the bottom the Big 12 for many years is now ranked #25 after upsetting Oklahoma, shutting out Kansas, and dominating Texas Tech for 3 straight wins to get to 5-2.
Florida State is 0-3 at home this year for the first time since the 1980s. They fell to Louisville on a game winning field goal as time expired.
Rutgers is on a 2 game win streak as they beat Purdue using their defense.
Virginia had just 1 loss going into their game with Boston College, but they showed us that it was just a fluke as they lost 41-10. Boston College has been on fire as of late, they are on a 2 game win streak of their own. Kentucky also went into their game with 1 loss and got smoked by Mississippi State 45-7.
The teams from Arizona, Arizona State and Arizona remain hot as well as they both pulled off wins. Arizona beat Cal by 1, and Arizona State beat a very good Utah team 30-10.
And our headline of the week this week is the fact that Baylor came so close to their first win of the year, but came up short 38-36. Baylor is now a shocking 0-7.
