Top 25 Notes
The playoff race got very interesting this week. Bama and Georgia sit at the top and will likely meet in the SEC Championship unless either team has a slip up. In that case I believe win or lose both teams will make the playoff.
Outside of those two teams, Ohio State and Wisconsin round out the top 4, and could meet in the Big Ten Championship for likely an elimination game, but both teams have Michigan left on their schedule.
Outside of the top 4, #5 Notre Dame is sitting pretty, but have a tough schedule remaining, so they must win out to get in.
#6 Clemson knows that a loss will eliminate them from the playoff. They have to go to NC State next week, then play a tough game for the ACC Championship potentially against an undefeated #9 Miami team.
#7 Penn State is very much alive in the playoff race, they just need teams ahead of them to fall especially Wisconsin and Notre Dame.
#9 Oklahoma, #10 TCU, and #11 Oklahoma State all have a slim chance to make the playoff, but have to win out against each-other.
#12 Washington also has a chance, but they have to run the table and win out.
Undefeated #15 UCF easily leads the New Years Six race as USF fell to Houston. UCF and USF meet in the final week of the season.
#23 Arizona and their QB Khalil Tate have been on fire as of late and they found a way into the top 25.
Florida’s Jim Mcelwain has been terminated after a blow out loss to Georgia.
Boston College keeps rolling as they beat Florida State 35-3.
Baylor is 0-8 and still win less after a bad loss to Texas.
Mississippi State beat Texas A/M in college station in a battle off two loss SEC teams.
Louisville drops a tough game to Wake Forest to add to their disappointing season.
