The Spartans of Michigan State are back, and they look scary good. Miles Bridges returns along with star sophomores Cassius Winston, Joshua Langford and Nick Ward. Plus they added #9 freshman Jaren Jackson who has promise to be a solid player. Minnesota also looks very good this year returning 4 of their 5 top scorers with vengeance, from the team that got upset by Middle Tennessee in the NCAA Tournament. Northwestern made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time last year, and their momentum will continue with the return of their superstar Bryant McIntosh. These three teams look to be ahead of the pack, but by a slim margin. This conference once again will be super competitive. Teams like Purdue, Maryland, Michigan, Indiana, and Iowa will all be in the mix with the talent they returned. However, I predict a down year for the Wisconsin Badgers who have not had a down year in a very long time. They lack talent outside of potentially the BIG Ten player of the year Ethan Happ. Next, a big surprise in the 2017-2018 season may come out of the BIG Ten. Penn State who has struggled in the realm of basketball have big potential to go far this year as an underdog. The Nittany Lions return their 5 top scorers and starters including Senior Shep Garner who wants to make something out of his basketball career at Penn State. The bottom of the Big Ten will be made up by Illinois, Ohio State, Nebraska, and Rutgers. However, Rutgers will be better than usual, and Nebraska could be the worst power conference team in the country this year.
