Entering the final full week of College Football I wanted to highlight the games that involve teams that are not yet bowl eligible. (Must be at least 6-6 to be eligible)
Games Between Teams that are 5-6
Indiana vs Purdue
This rivalry means a ton this year because the team that does not win the Old Oaken Bucket on Saturday will not be playing in a bowl game.
Baylor vs Texas Tech
Baylor and Texas Tech have both been inconsistent in the Big 12 this season, but it all comes down to this game to see who will find themselves in a bowl game.
Tennessee vs Vandy
Vandy has had a rough season with near losses and Tennessee is looking to avoid humiliation by taking the first step in returning to being a prominent football school. Loser will not be bowl eligible.
Teams I am Shocked to see Playing for Bowl Eligibility
Virginia Tech- Granted the Hokies lost their star starting QB Josh Jackson, I still thought that they would safely be in a bowl game. Virginia Tech must battle Virginia for the Commonwealth Cup that they have not lost since 2003. Also, if VTech does beat Virginia they will schedule a make up game with Marshall worth $1.4 million, to try and win and become 6-6/bowl eligible.
Florida State- The Seminoles have wasted their five star once again this season and they will need to beat in-state rival Florida to become bowl eligible
TCU- The Horned Frogs began the season looking great even though they lost a game to Ohio State that they blew late in the 4th quarter. After that loss the team fell off and even lost to Kansas who won their first Big 12 game in who knows how long. TCU must beat Oklahoma State to go to a bowl game.
Arizona- I picked the Wildcats to lose to Washington in the PAC 12 Championship and obviously that did not pan out. Quarterback Khalil Tate did not play to his potential in my opinion and that is why Arizona will have to take home the Territorial Cup over Arizona State to be bowl eligible.
USC- To me this is the most shocking because it is not looking likely that the Trojans will be playing a bowl game this year. USC will have to beat Notre Dame to do so. The negative is that Notre Dame is playing to be in the College Football Playoff, and the positive is that USC will be playing on their home turf.
Liberty- Liberty has a chance to be bowl eligible in their first season as an FBS school. Liberty had a game cancelled early in the year
